The Alpha Chapter of Sigma Sigma Sigma was founded at Longwood College in 1898 - It has never been inactive

Special shoutout to the other Farmville Four whose Alpha chapters are at Longwood: Kappa Delta, Zeta Tau Alpha, and Alpha Sigma Alpha.
