Thank you all for your prayers and well wishes. I believe you all had a first hand part in the miracle we have experienced in our family.
Jon was taken off the ventilator on Saturday as he had improved greatly. His mental status was very confused though

. Saturday during the night, he managed to get himself out of bed and fell

. (phone call at 2:38 am made my heart stop!!!) He was not seriously hurt. He pulled his central line out (very messy bleeding) and broken his big toe NAIL He is a BIG man and the nurses had to call security to have 3 of their muscle guys come up and help get Jon back into bed. He was placed in a vest restraint to keep him in bed after that. He was fixated on the fact that he was THIRSTY!!! all he wanted to do was drink drink drink. Since he had been experiencing congestive heart failure, fluids are restricted, which makes him all the more fixated on them. "I haven't had anything to drink in TWENTY days" (dear you only have been the hospital for 14 days...well I *need* water!...sigh)
He continued to improve but still has foggy moments (like the year was 2016 and we had NINE children eeeekkk!). Yesterday, he was finally transferred out of the CCU to a regular cardiac floor. The agreement was I sat with him, keeping him in bed, and when I went home, he had to be placed in the restraint. He was alert enough that it did NOT make him happy, but foggy enough it was absolutely necessary.
Today, he was even better. Still had some foggy moments, but not very dramatic ones. He tires so very easy...just eating exhausts him. He still is on restricted fluids...but is more understanding of the rationale behind it, and that I am not being the "water nazi" anymore, when I tell him I have to check with the nurse to see how much he has already had today. When he is cranky, he isn't fun, but at least he isn't evil either.
Our boys are doing better. We really had some serious acting out during the critical time last week...and I am sure we will have some limit testing when their dad finally comes home.
We still have probably another week in the hospital, and then it is back to figuring out how to earn an income :-/.
Thank you for your love and prayers. The power of both is an amazing thing.
