I am quite positive you feel you are more than capable of fulfilling the requirements of your position. Do you think that because you are black, parents of non-black children view you as less than capable? I'd never really given much thought to how some non-black parents may view black teachers. I gather it must be quite a challenge not only to meet and exceed their expectations but also your peers if they're predominately non-black. I am saying that because I feel that in all careers that we pursue, we have to go above and beyond to prove ourselves.

You captured my sentiments wonderfully.
My school is predominantly white staff. The parents who come out are again predominantly white. They are always amazed by seeing me, they try to say they are shocked to see that I am so young

. Then when some find out that I went to Wittenberg, a very prestigious college they get all buddy buddy with a sista.
