Are they paying you more? If not, you definitely have a double beef. It isn't an additional duty for your job - it's payroll - that's a whole other job! Not only that but the phrase "sticking your head in the sand" has nothing to do with this situation.
If they do tell you to leave, then you get to collect unemployment.
