Thank you Mrs. Butler for being so compassionate, nurturing and for fostering my ambition in first grade, especially on St. Patrick's Day when I came down with chicken pox and was so miserable. I was lucky to have you for both first and fourth grade!
Thank you Mrs. Given for supporting me in the writing contest even though they disqualified me for being too good and saying that a second grader couldn't have written that poem. I still have the bound book of that poem that you put together for me.
Thank you Mr. Masi for all that you gave to the Spanish program, the Spanish Club and the unforgettable trip to Mexico City in 11th grade. Thank you for always trusting us, treating us as adults, and giving us so many experiences like: skiing, horse back riding, canoeing and teaching us to make homecoming floats. I'm sorry the Anthropology class treated you like dirt. Your Spanish classes had so much respect for you and you never had to discipline us, but in that Anthropology class there were too many yahoos who took advantage of your kindness.
Thank you Mr. Anderson for not letting me drop Calculus my senior year because it was 'destroying' my GPA. So I had one B+ instead of all A's, but you were right, I had to learn how to study and think before I got to college. I hated you at the time, but appreciated it when I had anatomy and neuroanatomy in college.
To my son's teachers: Miss Slade (kindergarten) and Miss Edmonds (3rd grade, current). Thank you for understanding my son. Some teachers think he's just a smart aleck, but you understand that he's very logical and practical and doesn't mean to undermine you when he's just using his logic. Thank you for finding ways to challenge him academically and giving him individual attention.
Thanks to all teachers who are making a difference in our children's lives and preparing them to take care of us and take over our society in our retirement years! You face more challenges than teachers did in the past with school violence and unstable families on the rise. Don't give up!
