"Cute" can mean a number of things. The sisters who compliment a rushee on being "cute" may be referring to her personality, not necessarily her looks. As a collegiate, I participated in many rush parties and, as an alumna, I've observed many more. I can say from experience that beauty is not the main thing that sorority women look at when selecting their new members. We judge rushees on many of the same things that rushees judge us on: grades, participation in campus activities, personality, etc.
