Tacky as they may be... I think they are just a hassle. But I don't have anywhere to store them if I remove them.
I put curtains over them.
I usually find this in the "comes fully furnished" apartment complexes, but the brown furniture from the early 70s played off as "vintage" has got to go.

Uh...vertical blinds are perpendicular to the floor....as in straight up and down....
Horizontal blinds aka venetian blinds go up and down.
I actually LIKE THEM....I have pleated horizontal cordless blinds in all my windows under the curtains. They are great at blocking the sun

. Cordless means I move it up and down and it stays where I want it

Personally I think the "graduate house brick and board" look (that my husband ADORES) is tacky....you should see his office.
