...I will have to agree with this brother's statement. I attended a PWI undergrad. institution because of serveral factors; academic rep, ranking with PWI, school size, etc. In graduate school (MA), for me, it was/is more of convenience and cost. I will be applying to Ph.D programs in the fall and I will most certainly be looking for a research I institution with well-published faculty because that is what I want to become.

Only you know what type of environment is conducive to your learning and professional development. Use that as your direction more so than anything else.
