Torn
Ok, so as a freshman this year I am very interested in going greek and at my school there is a sorority that I am planning on pledging the girls in this sorority are some of my best friends both from highschool and college, however, i am not very happy at my school. I am looking to transfer to another school for next year, however they do not have this sorority at my transfer school. I wanted more than anything to pledge with this sorority next semester but what happens if I transfer? Will I then be left unable to join a greek organization for my duration in college? Help!!!

What kind of sorority is it?
NPC, NPHC, NALFO, etc? |
NPC

If you're going to transfer, don't pledge now. You would be unable to pledge another group at your new school if you joined this one. Wait until you get to your new school and go through rush and find a sorority with girls you like THERE.

My advice would be to WAIT until you transfer, and go through recruitment (rush) there. Do not join a sorority at your current school if you KNOW you're going to transfer.
If you join the sorority you like at your current school, get initiated, then transfer, you CANNOT join an NPC sorority at your new school. |
so if I pledge and join and end up transferring schools I cannot join another greek organization at all? or just not one that is npc, i am so confused, this is so difficult

If you initiate into an NPC sorority, you may not join another NPC sorority. If you initiate into an NPC sorority and want to join a local sorority or a sorority that belongs to another conference, it's up to them to decide. If you're so confused, don't join a sorority at your current school. Don't waste their time if you're set on transferring. |
