Any National Consultants Here?

I was just curious if there were any current or past consultants on Greek Chat...I am currently a traveling consultant for my sorority and I thought it would be fun to share stories from the road. I have only been doing it for a couple months now...but I know I already have a few to share!

I am a traveling leadership consultant ("TLC") for Omega Phi Alpha. I'm not sure how the duties would compare with your role - I advise the undergrad chapters in my district (right now, I have two chapters, one colony, and one interest group in my district). I help them coordinate district-level events, I am available to travel to their chapters throughout the semester, I help with chapter issues, and I serve as a liaison between the chapters and nationals. The sisters can contact me at any time with any concerns or questions that they have, and I either help them out if I can or pass along their issue to the appropriate party and work with them to get it resolved.

This is my second year in this role, and I'm really enjoying seeing my newer, smaller district grow and progress. Hopefully, I'm able to help out with that - I'm trying! :)

That is really similar to what I do...I just am not assigned to a specific region. Do you find it difficult to explain your job to other people? Sometimes they just write me off as soon as I say I work for a sorority! Even the members in my chapters I visit are baffled by what I do. It's hilarious!

I was a consultant for Alpha Gamma Delta in 1974-75. I was the first extension consultant, and spent most of my time going to campuses where we did not have chapters. I'm pleased to say that we did install chapters at several of those schools! In the spring semester I was at Texas A&M starting our chapter there.

It was a memorable year. I learned a lot --those were the days before there were "leadership workshops" and the like, so it was really on-the-job-training -- and of course there were no cell phones or internet. I also found my first professional job while I was at A&M, which took me on a career path I hadn't anticipated.

(And, a GreekChat P.S. was that that first job turned out to be in the same town where GC's Carnation's parents lived, so that's how I got to know her.)

I was a Leadership Consultant in 1990-1991. My area of specialty was extension (they never sent me in to reprimand a chapter, they only sent me for the fun stuff like opening up new chapters)

I am still involved today (have my 18 year volunteer guard to prove it) and am heading on the road Thursday for an extension presentation so they have never let me far from their radar!
