BEWARE GreekForMe.com

Deleted because they asked me to remove it, since we finally received our refund. If you want to read my original post, scroll to Pretty Boy's - he was nice enough to quote. :p I cant force him to edit his post though. The damage has already been done.

I'm sorry you had such a bootleg experience, but thanks for the warning. I'm waiting on a delivery from another company so I can sing their praises or warn others.

LaRues_Lady 09-23-2008 11:58 PM

I'm having the same problem with JoeToga.com except they will not return my e-mails or answer their phone.

I placed an order on August 31 and still have not heard from them or received my order. They are not answering their 866 number or their local number in Houston, and they are not responding to my e-mails. I've tried calling them throughout the day, too, hoping that they will eventually answer but they never do. My credit card was charged immediately, but still no Big/Lil' items : (

Don't really know what else I can do except keep e-mailing and calling them everyday, but DON'T ORDER FROM THEM!!!!!!!!!!!

I had positive experiences with Joe Toga before. I wonder what the problem is.

GammaPhi88 09-24-2008 12:13 AM

Try somethinggreek.com, I've never had a problem with them, neither has anyone in my chapter. For bulk orders, we really like holyshirt or customink.com.

If they are located in Houston perhaps they have been affected by HURRICANE IKE? Cut them some slack, they may have lost everything, including their store, ordering system, or their homes. I had a problem with an order from a company in that area and that was why it was delayed. Not only is the business affected, but their employees have suffered losses as well.

SWTXBelle 09-24-2008 08:12 AM

Joe Toga is near Sugar Land and yes, probably has been affected by the power outage. If you continue to have a problem, pm me- I go by there occasionally, and I'd be happy to speak to them. I've always found them to be very nice. I know the owner is active in Ft. Bend Panhellenic.

LaRues_Lady 09-24-2008 04:08 PM

Yeah, I just got off of the phone with the owner of JoeToga.com. She said they were hit by the hurricane, but that was almost two weeks after I placed my order.

Also, you can access e-mail from any working computer with internet and change a phone message to read "we've been hit by Ike and will be returning to our warehouse as soon as we're allowed." She also said that one of her employees has and has had power for a while now, so it would have been very easy for someone to just shoot a mass e-mail to those who had e-mailed them wondering about their order. Sounds like some slack to me, Squirrel.

Senusret I 09-24-2008 04:09 PM

I think you're being a little unreasonable, but that's just me.

I hope you've learned for next time to place your order earlier.

LaRues_Lady 09-24-2008 05:15 PM

Earlier than two months ahead of time? How is that being unreasonable?

Senusret I 09-24-2008 05:28 PM

August 31 wasn't two months ahead of time. It's smack in the middle of recruitment season for most of the organizations JoeToga serves.

I would have placed a bulk order in June if I wanted it for sure in September.

ETA: It's not Amanda's situation that I think is unreasonable, but LaRue's.

Agreed. I also think it's unreasonable to be upset that they didn't send a blast email to their customers. It's not like it was a big secret that Houston got hit with a major disaster. Nor is it normal for people who have just been hit with a major, nationally publicized disaster to assume that they need to tell people out of the area that their operations have been affected. The first unanswered phone call would have been enough of a clue for most people.

LaRues_Lady, I know you are stressed about getting the stuff for your big/little event. But I think your sisters will understand that Ike happened, and that the company was unable to comply with the timing. I understand it's personal for you because you are the one on the hook for getting the items, but I really think your sisters are going to be ok with it. I also think they will be more ok with it if you present it as an unavoidable situation brought on by a natural disaster, rather than trying to make the store look bad because they were more concerned with Ike than with your order.

LaRues_Lady 09-24-2008 06:05 PM

It wasn't for recriutment, it's for big/lil' which is October 28. That's pretty much two months ahead of time. Given that I've ordered from them in the past in the middle of September and gotten my order in less than two weeks, yeah, I'd say that's plenty of time, and it wasn't a bulk order. Just three items.

Combine that with the fact that I only just learned that they're based out of Houston and therefore didn't know that they were affected by the hurricane and that I ordered about two weeks before the hurricane hit (which should have been more than enough time to get back with me under the circumstances), and I was just worried that my order had been lost in transit somewhere and that I was going to be billed for items never received.

LOL!!! Anyway, I have nothing but positive experiences with Joe Toga! They are wonderful.

Ditto what someone else said about somethinggreek, they have quality stuff at a reasonable price.

I happen to agree with you (even if I'm the only person who seems to). The Hurricane doesn't explain why they didn't respond in the two weeks before it happened, particularly not if you normally would have had it in that time frame.
