Do looks matter for fraternity recruitment?
I'm wondering if being a more handsome guy helps you get a bid from a fraternity. I rushed, and didn't get a bid, and noticed the other guys who got bids are much taller than I am (5'2'') and better looking. Does being handsome help one get a bid?
|
Yes.
If the guy's face make babies cry, then why would a sorority want to do anything with us? |
maybe... guess it just depends on the house?
|
Depends on the house, but generally speaking I think how well you fit in with a given chapter, and in some cases your personal background and connections, are far more important.
In all my time as an active and advisor to my chapter, there have always been tall, short, fat, skinny, good looking and not so good looking guys. |
Yes, it helps but it's usually not a deal breaker

Also, if you think that "Sound body" refers to your height, then you're missing a whole lot, and I'm not too surprised that you didn't receive a bid. I'm sorry if that's mean, but really... think about how dumb that sounds. Please go to the fraternity's website. I hope then maybe you'll understand what they're talking about. |
I seriously doubt a fraternity would cut someone for the sole reason of being short if they liked everything else about him.
If you're insecure about your height, maybe they picked up on your insecurity. |
I don't think I know of any of the fraternities at my school that would cut anyone based on how they looked.
|
We have cut people for being flaming homosexuals, keyword flaming, but never for being fat or ugly. The girls are my school are way worse about this, they cut girls just for being fat or ugly (except for the two sororities that take the big ones that get cut).
It doesn't hurt to be an attractive guy, but keep in mind that just because the treasurer thinks your attractive, the recruitment chairman will think so too. |
