Recommendations

I am rushing this year and i have a friend who was in a house and she said she was going to write me a letter of recommendation. But I checked the houses' website and it said to fill out a reference form located on the website.

Am I fine with the actual letter or should she just fill out the form? My friend already took the time to write the letter so I would feel bad saying "Oh thanks, but actually instead can you fill out this form?"

She should know what she was supposed to do in order to write a recommendation. It's not your fault she didn't follow her group's instructions. But yes, most groups want the official form.

Most sororities require a form to be submitted along with a letter of recommendation. I would mention this to your friend, as she will need to fill out the form, and submit the letter on your behalf. Most forms are available on the sorority's (inter)national website, and maybe located in an area where only initiated sisters can view them.

Is your friend active in a sorority at the campus you are attending? Many times actives at same school cannot write formal letters of recommendation.

She needs to fill out the form. The form is the official recommendation. The letter is nice to have, but it is not an official rec.

Also keep in mind that not every sorority allows active sisters to fill out rec forms. She needs to check that out first.

No, my friend graduated a few years back so she should fine for a recommendation. And yeah, I'm just going to tell her to check out the website. Thanks!
