Fall 08' Rush Story
This is my first post but i have been lurking around this boards for quite some time so what better way to introduce myself then my first post about my rushing experience. As a junior transfer, i was so nervous in the sea of freshmen. I had heard little tid-bits about each sorority here and there but it wasn't until Saturday where I got just of it all.
We met at 8 in the morning on Saturday and were placed into 7 different groups and were going to be lead one by one to various classrooms to view the 6 different sororities that i'll represent by names of chips. Ruffles- there were first and the girls were really nice and i felt a genuine connection to them. we had lots of things in common and i immediately liked them. Lays- i did not get a vibe from them at first. The conversation at the beginning was awkward until i talked to another girl. but i still wasn't feeling it. Fritos- my friend was in this sorority so i felt somewhat at ease, it was just scary because it was one active talking to two rushees so we had to fight our way to talk. Pringles- was not my favorite at all. The girls i talked to where talking over my head or not paying attention to me. They were being rude and solely talked about themselves and i was the one asking questions. Tortilla chips- this was the most popular house at my school and although going in i wasn't expecting much, i felt that they didn't leave up to the hype but at the same time i did like one girl. Doritos- i loved them from the first moment i heard their song and i talked to the first girl. I felt that the conversation really flowed and i felt a connection. At the end of the day this is how i ranked them. 1. Ruffles 2.Doritos 3. Tortilla Chips 4.Fritos 5.Lays 6.Pringles The following day we would see up to four houses and to my surprise and shock i had . . . |

i'm not going to lie these cliffhanger trail-offs in recruitment stories are getting old and annoying.

So i'm basically just going to finish my story because i can't contain my happiness.
I only received 2 houses on Philanthropy day and not one of them were my Top 3 choices. I received my 4 and 5th choice which was Fritos and Lays. I was discouraged but knew that i really wanted to be in the Greek system and be in a house that i gave it a chance. I mean, they obviously liked me. Lays- was my first party and it was truly great. I had so much fun and really clicked with the girls i met. We learned more about the charity and it was a charity i deeply loved. Fritos- was after and i talked to a few girls and i really liked the charity and i got to reconnect with my friend but i was unsure of this was really the place for me. I didn't get the feeling. At the end of the day we had to rank and my choice were 1. Lays 2.Fritos. its amazing what people say to me was true. You might not get your top choices and that doesnt mean you have to drop, contiue to go and give the houses a try because what was once my 5th pick now become my 1st pick. Pref Night was the following day and i went to school seeing has i didnt get a phone call and wasn't dropped. As my rho gamma handed me the envelope i was alittle disappointed to see only one envelope but i was excited because it was from Lays. Pref night was really beautiful and very intimate and i loved the girls i was sitting with. Monday come along and as i made my way to our Student Center i was a ball of nervous. I made my way though the line of people and to m rho's and they handed my an evelope and i opened it and i jumped up and down. i am a Delta Delta Delta! and to believe that they were my 5th choice out of 6 on the first day. I'm definately glad i gave them chance because this is where i belong! |
