Non GLO recs- how much weight do they hold while colonizing

Here's a question for all founding sisters:

I have potential rec's from two alumnae of XYZ. I have been tossing around the idea of having the supervisors of volunteer programs I have been in write rec's for me as I go into colony recruitment. My question is is it a wasted effort? Will these letters mean anything to the women from nationals that will be down here? Will it help my chances of getting a bid, or will it actually hurt me?

No one here can say what your chances are or if it will hurt you.

(Assuming XYZ is the colonizing sorority) If you have recs to XYZ written by XYZ members, that should be sufficient.

I owuld only send the alumnae recs. Do not send work, character, etc references or recommendations. Those people do not know the criteria for membership in that sorority so they can't say if you'd make a good member...

Only alumnae recs should be submitted.

However, you might ask your other reference to point you in the direction of someone from XYZ who could write the rec...

I think she already has two XYZ contacts.

in addition, some sorority's do not require recommendations for pnms seeking to be members of a colony, because the pnms will be interviewing with national (or former) officers. i don't think that it would do any harm for you to have recs. written by alumnae of the colonizing sorority-if it is not required, the interviewers will just dispose of them or give them back to you.

Are you in a sorority? You don't have any founding sisters.

Waste of time. If they're not from an alumnae of the colonizing group they won't mean squat.

Oops, guess I hadn't had that second cup of coffee yet when I wrote that!
