Dress outlandish to pref dinner?

I am new to the whole greek thing. I just became a sister of a sorority a few days ago, and the guy I am seeing is signing his bid as we speak (He is more excited than I was I think). :)
But, is it common for the boys to wear some seriously loud and bright outfits to pref dinner? Or is this just at my school?

What do you mean by loud and bright, specifically?

Like paisley shirts. Madras pants. Spring florals. Bright colored linen pants.

Paisley shirts are the only of those things that sounds awful to me. And I'm not sure what spring floral prints a guy would wear. Madras and linen are sometimes over the top, but intentionally so and fine in my mind.

Its fall, so that seems a tad out of place, much less florals... otherwise it seems fairly normal.

Guys should just stick with khakis and a blue blazer.

disagree.
I go seersucker suit and VV tie (preferably the elephant walk pattern).

Is it a gay fraternity? (Sorry, SOMEBODY had to say it LOL!!:D)

That would be outlandish.

Wearing a full seersucker suit is a cry for attention.
(not like whatever the hell your boyfriend was going to wear wasn't)

I feel like I must defend the boy! haha!
It wasn't just him. I saw many boys walking back from fraternity row wearing things MUCH more ridiculous than what he was wearing. One guy in his pledge class was wearing madras pants and a paisley shirt. Compared to the others, he looked halfway normal.
Although- I am sure their outfits were trying to grab attention. He would never say that though
