Get Out The Vote - What Are Your (or Your Chapter's Plans)?
Greekchat Family,
We all know how important getting out the vote will be this election period. We also know that the deadline for voter registration for voting in November is coming up. What are your or your chapter's plans to help with getting out the vote? Are you registering voters, canvassing? If your chapter's having a public event for such, post here. SC |
My chapter had voter registration drives in under resourced DC neighborhoods this summer.
Your sorors at UDC are having a voter registration drive today on campus/at the metro station. |
We're conducting another voter registration drive. Our last drive, a few months ago was partnered with the National Coalition of 100 Black Women.

Yesterday, in the blazing heat, our chapter with the NC and the Links registered 70 people. The drive didn't start until 9, but there were people at Lowe's waiting at 6 AM to register from what I understand. I should have gotten there then as it was REALLY hot at 9 AM!!!!
One of the guys passing by said, "Go Obama! Palin scares me!" LMAO He was a blue-eyed soul brother, if you will. :D |
I've been registering people individually (at my church) and w/ my chapter's efforts for several weeks. Saturday I set up at a car show and later at afternoon pee-wee football (these are great places, you get parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, etc...).
I'm impressed with the "intensity." People seem really hype to do this. Once registration closes, my chapter is moving into early voting/mobilization mode. I'd urge all greek peeps to do what they can, particularly if you live in a battleground state. ...RBL, I know you and the bruhs are holding it down in Michigan, right? |
