FSU Kappa Delta spring
Hello everyone!
Im planning on rushing spring 2009 at FSU but im a transfer and will be a junior. Id love to become a sister of the kd's so i was wondering if there was anyone willing to write a recommendation for me since i will already be at such a disadvantage! I read a few previous posts about the morality of it, and i totally understand, but if theres anyone at all willing to help please let me know!! thanks girls! Also, is there any fsu kd's who know if the house will be participating in pring '09 recruitment? if not, which houses are??!:o |
Good luck with that.

Soliciting recommendations on GreekChat is highly discouraged. Why girls STILL ask for recs on GreekChat even when they KNOW it's highly discouraged is beyond me. |
I believe that the Greek Life Office at FSU would be your best source of info on who is participating in spring recruitment.
FYI: It's kind of a no-no around here to post about wanting to be in a specific sorority and asking for recs. |
LOL, "kind of a no-no" -- KSUViolet, you're so nice! :p
|
Let me humor you and say that KD will NOT be participating in spring recruitment.

What is a rec from someone on greekchat going to say? "Dear Sisters, this PNM came onto a message board and asked for a KD rec, so here it is." Really, what is that going to accomplish for you? If you can't put forth the effort to try to meet some real life KDs, what does that say about the effort you'll put into being a sister? |
The chapters that can take members during Spring Recruitment won't be known until the beginning of Spring semester. As KD is currently over campus total and took a full new member class, the chances that they will be holding COB events is, as stated above, very slim.
Contact FSU Greek Life Office for information in January. Robyn Brock and her staff are very helpful. Until then, get out and get active on campus. That's the best way to meet GLO members from ALL chapters. |
goldengirl, I am sure you get the clear cut message by the what the previous posters have written.
I would like to give you the benefit of the doubt and just think you did not know the proper way to go about things. You really do need to go about your quest a different way and put some strong effort into it. It will not be easy and I can assure you that even contacting your local panhellenic/alumnae isn't always as easy as you think. YOU NEED TO WORK HARD and once you exhaust all your options, then come back here and ask for additional advice. I would also suggest you keep more of an open mind as well when it comes to all sororities. Best of Luck. |

You were given honest opinions regarding your chances. I'm sorry that wasn't the news you wanted, but you did hear the truth. Most chapters at FSU do not participate in spring COB. That's not to say it doesn't happen, but you shouldn't pin your hopes on a single chapter, because it is unrealistic. |
I didn't even think the replies were rude. I mean, there are kinder ways to say things, but sugarcoating should have died before you got to college.
Second: This entire forum is not comprised of all KD members. There are at least five sororities represented in this thread. Third: ditto to PenguinTrax |
^^ The comments she received were honest and helpful. If she doesn't want to be a KD now because of things that members from other GLOs, and one very nice KD, said in order to help her get recs (call Panhellenic office, meet other KDs and sorority members, talk to alumnae members, etc.), then it's not worth her going through recruitment anyway.
goldengirl... I would suggest doing your research. If nothing else, call the Panhellenic office to ask about the entire recruitment process and about your options for the spring. Because the only people who will truly be able to help you to understand are the students, alumnae, and faculty associated with your particular campus. And whether you were "offended" here or not, that should not affect your decision about going through recruitment, or trying to become a member of Kappa Delta at your school. And if for some reason you do allow people on an internet message board to rule your life, then I'm sorry for you. |
