Landline needed for Internet?

This might sound kinda "duh...!", but I was wondering.

Is it possible to have home internet service without the regular landline phone? I don't mean Blackberry, etc.

I just figured out that with only the residential landline phone, almost 50% of that is fees/taxes.

I don't have long distance service and use my cell phone for most calls.

YES. I have RoadRunner but don't have a landline at my apartment.

Contact your local Internet providers for more info.

Co-sign. When I had DSL, the landline was required. When I had a cable connection, though, no landline was necessary.

Your cable provider probably offers Internet packages.

I haven't had a land line phone in over five years, but I've had internet. I've gotten it through the local cable company, and my town has two companies that offer wireless you can buy and access all over the area. We've had the internet with cable tv, and without.
