Transfering to App. State?!?!
Hey everyone! I just started my sophmore year at the University of South Carolina and I've been thinking about possibly transfering to App. State in the spring. Don't get me wrong I like USC and all, I just think it's too big of a school for me, and not to mention out of state tuition is astronomical!
Freshman year I went through the rush process but dropped out right before Pref. round because I wanted to get settled into life at USC before becoming involved in such a big organization. Over the summer I started having some regrets about my decision to drop out and I decided not to rush again this fall on the chance that I might be transfering. That's all my backround info., so now to the questions! I saw on the greek life page for App. State that rush is held in the fall. Since I plan on transfering in the Spring, I was wondering if App. offers any type of a Spring Sorority Recruitment, and if they do, what are my chances of getting a bid seeing as how I will be in my second semester of my sophmore year? If they don't do spring rush, is it a good idea to rush as a junior? I would greatly appreciate it if anyone has any answers or advice they wouldn't mind sharing with me! Thanks :) |
App State has a new sorority colonizing on campus this Fall - AOII. They will be seeking women of all undergraduate classes to begin the new chapter. If they don't fill all of their spots in their Fall colonization, they could possibly continue recruiting throughout the school year.

Thanks for the info.!

App State!
Some sororities (i.e, those that are not at Total), will have informal recruitment in the spring. By no means does this mean that ALL chapters will be able to extend bids in the spring. It's not uncommon at all for Juniors to get bids at App, especially if they keep thier minds and options open (which everyone should do in every circumstance :)). The AOPi colony is certainly another option for you to consider as well.
If you are looking for a "small school atmosphere" you may be surprised when you get to App. While it is no NC State, it is certainly getting much larger all the time, and the university has plans to continue growing both in numbers and in structure. It really feels like a whole new school since I first started there, and I only graduated in 2006! Good luck! |
Thank you so much for giving me this information:). When the spring semester starts, how can I find out which chapters will be having informal spring recruitment? And does informal recruitment mean that I can only visit with one chapter?

You can visit with all the chapters are participating in informal recruitment. You do NOT have to pick just one. |
