Phi Sigma Pi

Sooo I'm rushing Phi Sigma Pi. the minimum GPA they'll let you rush with is a 3.0...and i made a 3.2 last semester, and a 3.3 overall last year (my freshman year). i don't really know much about what they look for though (i'm assuming a well-rounded person or someone who is generally interested in participating and bringing something unique to the table)...this is the first real organization i would be able to participate in because my schoolwork loaded me down last year. i'm normally pretty shy, but i've basically said "screw that" and am introducing myself left and right and making conversations with everyone around. what tips/advice/past experiences/suggestions could you guys give me? anyone go in with a not-so-stellar GPA and a lack of extracurriculars and end up getting in? and how competitive was your college's rush for Phi Sigma Pi? thanks!

How many forums are you going to post this in?

Wow, thanks! That was such a big help. Great advice, really.

Seriously, I didn't know which one to post in so I just did both. If you noticed they were the same thread title by the same poster, you didn't have to read both of them. And for those saying everyone should just search for previously answered questions, I understand but the search has a minimum letter limit for a word and won't match whole phrases (at least for me it won't). If I had found other answers, I wouldn't be wasting my time posting the same questions. Not trying to be snobby or b*tchy, these are just legit things to think about.

yeah but now no one has any incentive to help you.

Okay, so I'll respond since I'm a brother and all. (btw, there is a Phi Sigma Pi forum....)

Membership selection is private and cannot be shared with anyone not in the room at the time. My chapter sets a quota every year and there are chapters in our region (ex: UNC-Chapel Hill & ECU) that are very competitive and only let in about 6 brothers every semester. My chapter's quota generally hovers around 15.

My GPA hovers around 3.3 and has since I was an initiate. 3.0 is the minimum required and that's all I can say because again, MS is private. I was already involved in numerous campus orgs before I pledged--but others in my pledge class had not. It really just depends.

Just be yourself. Attend as many events as you can because it shows sincere interest.

The initiation semester is very busy and full of a lot of fun! It's so worth it in the end! My very best friends were in my pledge class.

Here is the link on the public side of the national website that loosely outlines the initiation program.

Yay for Phi Sig! PM me if you have any questions.
