U of I colonization events
Does anyone happen to know what the UofI colonization events are going to be like? The website has times and places but nothing about what will be happening, what to wear, etc and the first event (other than our formal recruitment) is Monday! I don't want to show up in jeans and a T-shirt and have everyone else wearing cocktail dresses .

Call the Greek Life office at your school. They should be able to advise you as to what to wear to the first day at least. Also, check with other girls in your dorm who may be attending as well to compare outfits.
Good Luck to you! |
another route would be to contact the resident consultant .. her contact informatation can be found here.
http://www.illinois.alphaxidelta.org...ame=contact_us this is just my opinion .. but I'd suggest, for the first event, business casual. nice top and slacks should be ok. good luck!! keep us posted!! |
Since I've noticed that there are at least a few pnm's interested in Alpha Xi Delta's colonization lurking the GC boards (including myself) I thought I would share what I found. It seems as though the locations and times were just updated last night (Wednesday). You can find them all here:
http://www.illinois.alphaxidelta.org...tment_schedule As far as what to wear, I'm not really sure myself. If anyone has an idea or finds out more information, please share! :) Edit: I did not read your full post AZ-AlphaXi--Thanks for the suggestion! |

Good luck to Illinois and their potential new sisters! |
the website just put up descriptions of what each event is going to be. Seems the first few events are casual although I've always been told "better to be over dressed than under dressed" so I hope no one takes that as permission rock the hot pants or short shorts.

Update?
Does anyone have an update on the Kappa Recolonization? I think recruitment for the colony started this week.
|
Well, I guess I'll update!
I'm one of the girls going through AXiD's recruitment at U of I. It's really exciting to see how much interest as grown!!! I don't want to give away too much information about myself but I attended some events that were held last year, just to get some interest going... I was sad to see that so few girls showed up... but WOW what a difference a semester makes!!! I'm going to estimate that there were around 200 girls at the first recruitment event!! There's two more open events before "membership selection" weekend is held. All of the PNM's have the opportunity to set up an interview with the "membership selection team" (I think that's what she called it!) on the 26 & 27 of Sept. I'm not too sure about any other specifics, but Bid Day will be September 28th. The next event is this Sunday & we're going to learn about the philanthropy. I'm very much looking forward to meeting other girls, meeting members from other schools, and of course learning about Alpha Xi Delta! I'm going to be on edge for the next week and a half!! |
MaggieXi - if you log on to InCircle there's a group for Kappa's recolonization. People on the recolonization team are providing updates on there.
And lovespink88 - good luck to you! |
Thanks AlphaXi_Husky! I'm excited to see a Zeta Xi helping with the colonization.

The sneak peek event had something like 50 girls there which surprised me, but then the Kickoff was PACKED. I know a bunch of girls have already signed up for interviews. After interviews there's a pref party that Satuday night with bidding being the next day. Also we're supposed to find out where the house is at the next event. They said they're really close to finalizing everything so they should be able to tell everyone soon. |
Well, had I checked my email before my last post I could have told you all this:
Alpha Xi Delta is excited to announce the location of our new home at the University of Illinois. We know there has been much speculation and anticipation, and we are thrilled to share with you that Alpha Xi Delta has reached an agreement with the men of Phi Sigma Kappa to lease their house at 1004 S. Second Street. The front door of the house opens onto Fraternity Park, which means we're situated right at the heart of things. We couldn't be happier with our new location! During the 2008-2009 school year, our Founding Sisters will be able to use the house for chapter meetings, Sisterhood events, and as a general gathering place. These women will then move into the house in the fall of 2009. Alpha Xi Delta is extremely grateful to the men of Phi Sigma Kappa for making their home available for our members' use, and we will do our best to be good stewards of the property until such time that Phi Sigma Kappa returns to campus. While we are in residence at Phi Sigma Kappa- anticipated to be at least two years, and up to five if we so desire - our National Housing Corporation will continue working to secure Alpha Xi Delta's permanent home at U of I. Both Alpha Xi Delta and Phi Sigma Kappa will be working diligently over the next few weeks to ensure the house is in prime condition for us to welcome our newest members on September 28. Landscapers, interior decorators and the like have been selected, and we are anxiously looking forward to putting our letters on the house and raising the Alpha Xi Delta flag! We will debut our new house during our invitation-only Preference Night on September 27, and we will welcome our Founding Sisters home with a Pledging Ceremony there the next day! We hope you are as excited as we are about this new development, and we hope to see you at our next event! For more information, please visit our website at www.illinois.alphaxidelta.org. |
ahhh I was just coming to post this, but you beat me to it!
I just walked passed cause I don't really remember what the house looked like... and let's just say at the moment you can definitely tell it was a fraternity.. hehe. But I am very excited to see how nice Alpha Xi makes it! I think alot of girls are going to be very happy that the house is in Champaign vs. Urbana. I know I am! I mean, if the house was in Urbana it would not change my mind about going trough recruitment, but I just think Champaign is better for many reasons. YAY! |
