Vineyard Vines
Ok so im NOT trying to start a north south discussion or get flamed or drama or anything like that I just have a genuinly honest questions of curiosity. Im from New England have lived here all my life and am very familiar with the Vineyard Vines brand from summers spent on Nantucket and the style of it is a look i have always associated with a classic New England "preppy" look. My question is when I see it refered to on GC its as a staple to southern fratty style and I even saw pics where a Florida school had a Vineyard Vines recruitment theme. So i guess my questions is what made a small brand from Martha's Vineyard become a huge staple and style symbol down south???

You already answered your own question....it's a classic preppy look. Classic preppy is not just associated with the NE, it is very strongly associated with the deep south.

Yea i guess it just amazes me that such a small company blew up in a such a big way. . . I mean it started with 2 guys selling ties and now its every where including T.J. Maxx

From my native NC boyfriend "Vineyard Vines is from Martha's Vineyard but it's definitely a southern brand." His dad is from Boston but he's spent his entire life (and some summers in Martha's Vineyard) in NC.

I've only been to the store on the Vineyard - I like their ties, but I stick to Brooks Brothers for polos.
mu_agd, where is the store opening, Copley/Prudential, Newbury St.? |
Prudential, where the Talbots Mens was.

also, the whale is adorable
I love their ladies' polos! The cut is so much cuter than Lacoste's.
I originally shopped for Vineyard Vines in Oxford (home of Ole Miss), and now it's sold in Memphis too, hooray! I'm also a fan of Lilly Pulitzer polos. |
