Is GPA really all that important.
I'm an incoming freshman and I had a 3.4 in High School. will that either help me or hurt me in recruitment or not even really matter?
ps i never really did community service thanks to drama and band |
Yes. GPAs are important to sororities (because we're all in college to learn).
Your GPA is not a bad one, but if PNMs where you go to school all have super stellar grades, a 3.4 starts to not look so impressive. This is particularly true of larger competitve recruitments. Involvement in school activities like the ones you describe help to balance it out though. A girl with a 3.4 who was involved at her HS is a bit more impressive than a girl with a 3.4 in HS who did absolutely nothing. Also keep in mind the minimum GPA requirements of the sorority chapters at your school. A 3.4 HS GPA looks pretty good at a school where the required GPA's for incoming freshmen are like a 2.5. But if you're at a school where the sorority GPA requirements for incoming freshmen are like 3.0-3.2, a 3.4 is not considered great. |
