Pledging Omega 1930's SC State University

Attached is an image of my father pledging Q in the 1930's at SC State College. I was contacted this morning by a member of the chapter trying to locate lost info. My dad, Theodore James Whitaker is the one on the far left. I. B. English on the far right. Maybe you can circulate through your Omega network.

They had to dress as women?

Yes, this is my understanding. Remember, we're talking 1930. My dad said they were ridiculed as really ugly women. It's also my understanding that there was also a wedding. The tallest "woman" wed the shortest "woman".

I walked around campus @ Syracuse with duck in hand. (1975) Pretty silly now when you think of it.

I've attached a post pledge pic of Dad. Quite an dapper Omega Man as an Omega Man at SC State

You and I are basically from the same era. Duck in hand and then some. And there are things happening today that are still silly.

Yea, pretty silly, but I don't know when I've had such fun, such memories.

:)

Ummm...what happened to the ducks when it was all over?

I kept for a long while, including pillows, paddles, over 100 elephants. I kept in my bedroom at home. Unfortunately, my mom threw a lot away. The paddle I may still have. I have the elephants. Some 30+ years later, after 1 fire, 2 floods, i still have pictures.:)

Everyone that I've shown this pic to over the years have fallen out in laughter. Especially anyone that knew my dad. He was a size 55 jacket, 210 lbs and not an ounce of fat.

I'm just curious about the question. Are you offended, just think it's unbelivable, funny or what? I can't believe my dad ever put on a dress, but he did because he wanted to be an Omega that badly and he loved his frat until he died.

Hey,

Not offended at all...funny yes. I've had to do my fair share of "funny stuff" too on line. The things you do for something you love...:)
