Wrong GPA on File For Recruitment
Hi I start recruitment tomorrow and I just realized that I was reading my transcript wrong and I put 3.35 as my GPA on my recruitment forms but my GPA is really 3.46. I called the lady in charge of recruitment to see if it was too late to change it, but she wasn't in so I left my name and number with the receptionist. What should I do if it's too late to change it and notify the sororities by the time we start recruitment (Friday at 8:00 AM)?

I would bring a copy of your unofficial transcript with you tomorrow and ask your Rho Gamma/Rho Chi/Gamma Chi/Pi Chi/whatever how to fix the problem. Even if she doesn't know, she'll be able to find someone who does. Good luck!
And do try calling again a few more times today. |
It's never too late to try! Your GPA is too important to just hope it's okay.

Do whatever you can as recommended by the earlier posts. I will say that although 3.46 is obviously better, having 3.35 on the application is certainly nothing to be ashamed of. At least it wasn't the other way around ... now that might be more difficult to explain. Good job with your academics and good luck with recruitment!

i've seen a lot of misprints on recruitment information forms. we've had some girls with 9.90 GPAs on their information sheets!

It may also be the case that panhellenic verifies the GPA with the university and will have put the official GPA on the forms the chapters see. Your counselor can tell you if that's the case.

Depending on the school you attend, the university will verify every PNM's gpa using the final transcript that was submitted after graduation from their hs.
The actives use the official gpa (all usually converted to a 4.0 scale) as the final word on gpa's. But, I agree, it is probably a good idea to get in touch with your Greek Life office to find out what the case is at your school. |

^^^So true. We'd take applications & the non-refundable fee based on the information the women provided. If they admitted they didn't meet the requirements, then we obviously wouldn't take it.
But some girls out and out lied! (And if you're a transfer student I can understand thinking you have one thing but the university saying something else, but if you're a freshman from a 4.0 scale school or a current university student then it's pretty much black and white)! When they started checking GPAs after the sign up deadline, we had to call a lot of women and let them know that A) they weren't eligible so not to show up and B) You're not getting a cent back. |
When you get on the admissions site at UF, you discover that they recaluculate the GPA to add a .5 for every CP/Honors and 1 pt for every AP/IB to the overall points total and recalculate the GPA which is why UF says that the average GPA of their very large freshman class is over a 4.0. MY question is: do the sororities use the unadjusted GPA (what the transcript says) or the UF adjusted GPA? Sorry for the hijack.
