High Phis and Pre I....

As Phi I am very interested in making the experiences before Initiation memorable, exciting and deep, for both brothers and associates. PM me if you would like to share anything cool that your chapter does or did in the past. I would really like to hear about some events that you feel are "unique" to your chapter!

High Phis and Pre I

You should contact your Educational Leadership Consultant for the materials on the Exoteric Mysteries. Those materials contain a number of very impressive pre initiation activities as well as instructions about how to put those activities on and how to make the pre initiation activities a meaningful part of the Call to Brotherhood Associate Member Education Program.

One of the things my Zeta does is visitation night.

They take the neophytes around to all of the places where our old houses were or where we stated meeting.

LOL, one is now a Taco Bell and another is a parking lot!:D

Hey I was quoted... how exciting.

Also, read the AM ceremony again. What do we call them...?

'Worthy aspirants, the greek lamp is the symbol of learning...' I'm almost ready for ours I hope... I just need to get the other 4 ready...

My recipe for pre-initiation fun:

1 burlap bag

1 pledge

15 brothers

15 sticks at least 1 inch in diameter

1 blindfold

Mix them all together in a dark basement, ENJOY!

Oh Adam, somewhere on this thread, there is a picture of the Neophypt which is famous and I always relate to that!:D I had one sent to me by a Brother and had it framed!

You are correct of course but I will say no more beyond that!;)

Seek and ye may find!:D

Ive done some of the "esoteric mystery" ideas with a little tweaking of course, I was kinda just lookin for something unique. Tom, that is neat about traveling to past chapter locations. We are lucky enough to have remained in our house after all these years!(besides a short spell in the late 80's) our chapter has never left. Thanks for the advice though! Oh, and GammaZeta you are officially invited to Beta. Come on up.

I also hold that part during the AM ceremony...

Never been High Phi though...

For Pre-I I believe it to be important to stay true to local traditions your chapter does "within reason" of course. We do the normal activities but our location in the mountains of North Carolina provide an added bonus and ambiance.

One thing they emphasized in GA and in the new Pre-I guides is that you should be flexible to your chapter's current atmosphere and needs and not to keep doing the same thing year after year just based upon "traditions." There are pre-I events that bring the brotherhood together, others that bring focus on rituals, and still others that focus on ideals of the fraternity - so whatever your chapter's needs are, do that type of event. We have a couple of events that we created or borrowed from other chapters that we adapted for our uses - and they worked well.

GammaZeta 08-14-2008 10:49 PM

UMOLCA, I haven't been to Beta in YEARS. Come to think of it, it's been a while for visiting any chapter.

I may have to take you up on that.

GammaZeta 08-14-2008 10:50 PM

Oh, and for those too uptight to realize my previous post about the burlap bag was a JOKE...well, it was a JOKE.
