Summer MIAS
 

Well, as we Canadians in particular HATE to admit, the summer is slowly coming to an end. I know myself, and other GCers who will remain nameless (newbie, billy o, axo alum etc., etc., etc.,) have been somewhat absent from the land of GC for the last little while. As people get back to the real world (such as it is) and, hopefully, come back to GC, I'm curious to know what has kept you all away. And, ideally, you guys will come back and say a big 'hello' and 'i missed you guys' to all of us as you return to school or whatever else you do when it's not sun and surf season.

I've been working at a Law Firm whose firewall can only be compared to Fort Knox. Any site that is any fun at all is unaccessable. My evenings have been spent primarily honing my pool playing skills and taking advantage of the last of the only 3 months of the year where I can sit on a patio, enjoy a Molson, and not risk frost bite.

What's your excuse for being MIA?

I've been back for...let's see...bout 2 weeks now. Been back on GC for prolly a week now.

Left from the end of July to August 10 on a trip to Vegas then to SoCal. LOVED Vegas, but I definitely had the most fun in SoCal. I've always thought of SoCal as my second home (I usually stay with my aunt and uncle down in Anaheim for a month each summer), though I hate an L.A. sports team in particular, the Dodgers ;). Anyhow - I was only in SoCal for a week this year but loved it. I got a mean tan, and was able to wear flip-flops and tanks everyday - something you can never do in SF! lol. I'm outside in SF almost every day year-round and never get tanned ;).

I went to visit colleges (UC-Santa Barbara, University of Southern California (USC), UC-Irvine, UC-San Diego)...and went to Disneyland for 2 days. The rest of the week, I spent time chillin with my sister, who just moved to Los Angeles. I also headed out to Santa Monica and Newport Beach. All in all - fun, fun, fun!

May I add, SoCal has the finest male specimens ;) ;) - especially at USC and Disneyland! lol.

I really didn't want to come back home to SF. Was having too much of a blast down in LA! When I came back home to good ol' San Fran, I was greeted with the usual intense fog and cold - something that I wasn't used to anymore, after being in such warm climates for a few weeks! It was kinda weird wearing sweatshirts and hoodies again.

Anyhow, I start school on Monday. I won't be posting regularly anymore once school starts - sr. yr will definitely be very hectic for me. So I'm treasuring these last few days of summer - kinda sucks though that I'm sick right now!

It's been too long since I've been on this board. The new set up is throwing me off a bit, but I'll get use to it.

My reason for being MIA is that I've had the craziest summer of my life!!!:eek: I went to Japan for a couple of weeks, then I started moving across town, and to top it all off my personal life has been turned upside down and inside out. So, I've been putting myself back together. Things are better now, but I still have a ways to go. :)

I've missed reading all of your posts and hope to be more active now that things have settled down a bit.

What kept me away from GC? Well first I was unable to access it for about a month, and then I took off to Mexico for a week!!

Anyways...I've been away from GC alot this summer too. I've been really busy with school. I also just moved back into the dorm this past Thursday. :( Hey Leslie!!!! Sorry I never emailed you back. I've just been incredibly busy these past couple of days. I came back to GC last night and was shocked at how much it's changed. I like it though. VERY nice improvement. Anyways...I'm going now. I'll talk to y'all later. Hey Car....I'm gonna email you as soon as I get situated. :)

I've been taking summer classes, was in Michigan for a stats class, Toronto for a weekend (loved it! :D ), Mazatlan for a week, home for almost a week, then back here to Misery in the sweltering, muggy, oppresive heat.

I have been mia all summer, but mostly cause of the greeklife shutdown. I just hit the new site today and I think it rocks. John did a good job. Within the last three weeks I just got back from my national convention, quit my old job, got a new job, my gf moved out, and now I'm trying to buy a house. And rush is this week. Maybe someday I will have time to sit in the recliner and drink a beer.

HEY ALL YOU YUNGINS------ Any of you guys and girls go greek since school has started?

Though I've been on GC this summer, who knows what time I'll have to be on it this school year?

My husband just realized that our family members go to 10 different schools--our oldest is at 1 university, the next goes to 2, I teach at 2, five go to the city schools, five go to the county schools, 1 to Montessori PK, and Mr. Carnation teaches in a Catholic school. That's before you start adding in all their activities.

When he said that, we sat very quietly for awhile and tried to take in the incredibility of what our schedules will be like this year. Unreal. :eek:
