Things you never take seriously anymore because of pop culture

What people, places, or things you never take seriously because it was once referred to in an inappropriate way in a song/movie/tv show?

I giggle at the mention of a "Burger King", especially Burger King bathrooms, because of the Humpty Dance song. That song came out when I was 8 or 9, I remember asking my mother what he meant by getting busy in one and being a "freak". She told me it meant he was nasty man who likes to watch people go to the bathroom. I guess she was too uncomfortable to give me the birds and bees lecture at that age.

So I find the mention funny because of both the song's real meaning and my mother's "interpretation".

A friend of mine goes crazy when she sees a cherry printed on clothing. Her now husband told her many years ago that any girl who wears clothing or an accessory with a cherry on it is referencing having her cherry popped (!!!) She is very girly and had tons of that stuff. So now when she sees a cherry she says, "Oh my gosh, do you know what that means?" I've probably had her tell me 10 times, so I giggle whenever I see a cherry.

Your mom.

im gonna go with a Jheri curl, for obvious pop culture references and stigmatization.

but as my mom is a hairdresser (and a former Jheri curl-wearer), there are people who still wear it like its 1987. and as long as they pay, she's willing to deal with the stench of the products.

and mullets, come on. really.

Every time I see someone who has one (which isn't often, thank goodness), I start mentally singing "Just let your Soul Glo"!

Anyone with the name Rick...

Because then I think of Rick Astley and how he'll never:
1) Give you up
2) Let you Down
3) Turn around and hurt you
4) Make you cry
5) Say good bye and desert you

BIKING SHORTS. When I see nonathletes wearing them, I can only think of the late 80s and early 90s rap and booty shaking videos. Didn't NKOTB wear them in a video, too?
