Alpha week
 

I'm the sponsor chair for the gamma psi chapter at Wofford College. I'm having a hard time thinking of creative and unique gifts for this year's alpha week. I don't want to give out the same old dorky picture frames, doorknob hangers, etc but I also want to stay within budget. Any suggestions?
Also I could use some ideas for door decs on bid day!

One of my favorite gifts was flower pots. Just the cheap clay pots from Home Depot or something. We had painted and decorated them. After all the decorations had dried, the pots were filled with dirt, a few pansy seeds were added, and handed to the girls with directions to shower the plant with love and water and told to wait. Depending on the length of the pledge period and how well the girls take care of it, the plant should be blooming around the time the NM is over.

It did lead to a funny rumor, too. It was rumored on campus that if the NM's plant didn't bloom they wouldn't be initiated. Something about not caring enough for a plant so you can't care that much for your sisters. :p

For bid day door decorations we cut out blue poster board dolphins with "DDD hearts nm" We use lots of silver and gold glitter on them. Other girls put blue and yellow streamers and signs on their door. Balloons have also ben used in the past! As for gifts, the DDD lavalieres would be a classy gift for a nm.
