The House Bunny
So I was at Mamma Mia last night and one of the previews was for a movie called The House Bunny, about Shelly, a former Playboy bunny who becomes a housemother at a geeky sorority, Zeta Alpha Zeta, after being tossed out of the mansion. Zeta Alpha Zeta isn't exactly the sorority girls want to pledge, since the girls there aren't too popular, and it's up to Shelly to turn things around.
The movie was written by Karen McCullah Lutz, who wrote the first Legally Blonde movie and an AGD. Do you think this is going to be another stereotypical sorority movie? Movie opens on August 22. |

The House Bunny - Anna Faris
The House Bunny looks like another cheesy chick flick but I think I'm actually going to go see it. I think that Anna Faris is pretty hot in this movie. Release date is August 22nd and you can read more about it at http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0852713/.

Merging threads about House Bunny. Please let me know if you see any others in Entertainment. Obviously most of the discussion has gone on elsewhere.
I am fine having a thread here to discuss the House Bunny as Entertainment, and a thread elsewhere to discuss the House Bunny re: Greek life and the reputation and potential slandering of GLOs. If you see more duplicate threads pop up please report them and I'll merge, but I'm not planning on closing/deleting House Bunny threads. Here is the long thread on the House Bunny from the Greek Life forum: http://www.greekchat.com/gcforums/sh...ht=house+bunny |
The House Bunny - I saw it!
I finally saw the movie and I have to ask "what was all the fuss about?" It was really just harmless and I think ZTA HQ overly dramatised the situation... Even with Phi Iota Mu being the villains, I really saw no harm. Have you seen the movie? What do you guys think?

One thread per movie. Thanks.

I was really hoping that it would have some Animal House allure, but was sadly disappointed in that thought. |
I just saw it and thought that it was okay & not particularly harmful to sorority life. I didn't really see a Zeta Tau Alpha and Zeta Alpha Zeta similarity. The Zeta letters on the front of the house were kind of a teal'y blue (which is also a ZTA colour) and that was about it. The mean, bitchy sorority house on campus was called "Phi Iota Mu", so I suppose Phi Mu could make a case that that was a bit close to their letters and they don't like the way in which it's represented.
Anyhow, it was a pretty good movie. In the end, the message was essentially, "be yourself, but be your best self" (whereas in GREASE, which is another extremely popular movie and musical, Sandy completely sells out in the end). There were a few inaccuracies, like them mailing out the bid cards, and in the end, one girl from Phi Iota Mu wants to join Zeta Alpha Zeta (and of course, you can't really do that if you've already initiated in NPC land...and I'm sure locals would not look that kindly upon it either) and then of course, the Aztec party with alcohol served at a sorority house (hello, Risk Management). But that's me just over analyzing it and it is just a movie! :D P.S. Beverly D'Angelo was great...so awesome as the House Mother of the Phi Iota Mu. |
House Bunnny
I went out and saw this over the weekend with my girlfriend. First of all, I was really impressed with the staging of real live Playboy Bunnies at the mansion. I'm glad that the real Hef played himself in the movie. Secondly, Anna Faris was hot. I wouldn't have gone to go watch this movie at the theater with my girlfriend if it weren't for Anna. She played the role really cool and I thought her way of remembering people's names was cute. It reminded me of someone I dated in the past. What really sucked was being one of 4 guys in the theater with a room full of adolescent girls being noisy the whole time. Other than that I had a good time.
