RIP Randy Pausch..."The Last Lecture"
Has anyone heard or watched on youtube..."The Last Lecture"?
Randy Pausch was a Computer Science/Virtual Reality professor at Carnegie Mellon. He gave his last lecture back in September as he was dying of incurable Pancreatic Cancer. Randy passed away on the morning of July 25th, 2008. Here's the youtube link to watch it...very interesting, inspiring, and funny. Beware, this is 1 hour, 16 minutes long...but definitely worth watching!! The Last Lecture RIP Randy..... |
I just read an article today that he had passed, so sad. I'd watched his lecture a while ago and was really touched by it. May he rest in peace and wishing good thoughts and comfort to his wife and young children he left behind.

I loved loved loved the ending of his lecture. I remember watching it for the first time when someone posted a link to it (I think in the Patrick Swayze thread).
I posted a MySpace bulletin with the lecture today and was surprised to find out that not too many of my friends knew of him. Well...now they do! What an inspiring man -- I hope his legacy lives on forever. |
Alumnae registrants got an e-mail from the CMU president yesterday announcing the loss. I believe the entire school will mourn, as will alumnae and, hopefully, the world.
I do hope he made people think. What an incredible message to leave for the world. |
I saw his lecture when he gave it on Oprah.
Makes me cry just thinking about it. May he rest in peace and may this lecture bring comfort to his children as they grow up. |
My principal shared Randy's book with my staff. I sat down to read it that night and finished it before going to bed. I couldn't put it down - what a legacy he left for his children.
My thoughts and prayers are with his family at this difficult time. |
I know GMA did a special piece on him this morning and will do one more tomorrow -- ABC will air a special PrimeTime episode called "The Last Lecture: A Celebration of Life" (tomorrow evening) Tuesday July 29 10PM ET.

I DVRed that special and I already watched it and I really started to cry. I want my b/f to watch it since he was also very impressed and inspired by the lecture.
I just picked up his book (at Sam's Club for $11.88!) and I cannot wait to read it! My mom has already said that when I'm finished, she wants to read it. |
