I would recommend talking to the greek adviser on campus. He or she can tell you if seniors are not counted against quota. The school where I advise makes seniors "free" so more upperclasswomen can get placed. (I hope that is the case for you, too).

As far as why you waited, I would simply state that for family and personal reasons you were unable to make the commitment to an organization previously. But now you are ready, willing and able! Additionally, I would definitely let them know that you will be on campus for 2 or 3 more years, so they understand that you want to be a fully participating member of their organization. (At some schools there are issues of upperclasswomen pledging only for the "resume" bragging rights).

Also, membership in a sorority is a lifetime commitment, so, although you may only have 2 or 3 years as a member in college, you will have a lifetime as an alumna.

i am a student at utc....although i am not in one of the panhelanic sororities, i have lots of friends that are. as far as i know there is no rule against it. i knew a junior that went through last fall. same for the fraternities, my best friend went through as a graduating senior. we have sisters in our chapter that are older returning to college that have families. if you are willing to dedicating the time and effort that goes into it, then i am sure that they would welcome you. utc has a very intense growing recruitment rate and they are trying to raise the allowed amount of girls a semester to be able to extend more bids.

Definitely not trying to be rude here, but I'd refrain from giving advice, saying "I'm sure they'd welcome you" and speculating about the growth of recruitment when you aren't even in an NPC sorority there. That's just not a good thing to do.

Not only that, but just because juniors and seniors have successfully rushed in the past doesn't mean that's the case for all juniors and seniors who rush.

While there might not be a rule prohibiting upperclassmen from rushing, several things will determine how far you will go when you rush -- grades, extra curriculars, personality, etc. You best bet would be to ask someone from your campus, preferably someone who's familiar with Panhellenic recruitment because she's been through it.

If more girls go through rush, then quota will just be higher. All sororities can take quota, even if they are at total.
