It would have had a shared kitchen, but the rest would have been split into a chapter room-type set-up, with possibly a few bedrooms per fraternity for officers. I can see why all of the guys thought that wouldn't be optimal. I know they're looking for space, maybe to build, but there really isn't anything within range of the other houses.
Which, in a nutshell, is why you sell your soul to hang onto your property in Chapel Hill...it's a tough lesson to learn at the expense of your chapter.

News to me that SAE owns the apartment house in fraternity court. I know the guy who bought it in 2002 and renovated it rent as apartments was not from UNC. He must have sold it recently?
Has anyone bought the DZ house? That house has one of the worst designs I've ever seen. I can't even describe how dysfunctional it is, especially considering it isn't even ten years old.
I heard that the Church on Franklin bought the old KAT house on Rosemary as an 'annex' (sort of). So there really are limited options. That's why I don't blame Pi Lam. They had the cash at the right time (I'm pretty sure one alumn bought it outright--no mortgage) and jumped on the open house.
I can only think of one fraternity that currently has a house and may be in financial problems. It could be a long time before another house goes up for sale. Then again no one would have guessed the KA house would have been available.
What happened to the PKP house? I know they aren't around. Last of the golf course fraternities (besides the pre pharm house).
