Family Tree Names

hey girls!

i am the vice president, and am in charge of big/little pairs. i have a sister who wants to branch off from her family, and become a new family; her little being the second in that line. however, she doesnt know what she wants to be. in our chapter, we have three main families: the dolphins, wolves, and seals. this is one way of doing revealing, by telling what family you belong to. does anyone have any family name ideas???

much thanks!!

My chapter is animal themed too, with pandas, teddy bears, flamingos, ducks, llamas, ladybugs, and I'm pretty sure that I'm forgetting a few. Family trees are sooo fun!

I was the bunny family, but there were also family themes, such as the sleepy time family and the under the sea family. So maybe she can do something like that.

I'm part of the Angel family in my chapter. We have a Dynasty line from our founding and then there is a Snow Angel line.

We have some pretty cool family names...they are:
Hershey kisses, seals, zebras, hearts, seashells, sheep, fox, alligators...and some more that I can't remember.

Im going to bump this instead of making a new thread.

Im a founder of a local sorority, and Im finally taking some little's.

Currently, we have two family trees (after our first 'official' semester, the other founders left). The other family trees are "The Clovers" and "The Sweet Tree"

I am trying to come up with a good name for my tree. I know usually, the sorority follows a theme, but that obviously did not happen with mine.

If anyone has some creative suggestions, that would be great. Im at a total loss and I need to figure something out within the next week and a half!

You can start by using symbols from your sorority and them remixing them....

So say one of your symbols is a peacock.... you could take one of the colors in peacock feathers and make it a "thing." Like the Purple Passion family tree, and you give amethysts as gifts, and your personal sets of letters are in purple.

Basically it doesn't have to be a "theme" as much as it can be an idea that leaves room for creativity in future generations.

Thanks for the idea. One of our symbols is the nautical star...our mascot is a phoenix...kinda hard to work with that but thank you.

btw didnt realize this was in a sorority specific forum, sorry for the hijack!

If your mascot is the phoenix (which FYI is also the symbol of a national sorority and I think a national fraternity as well) you could have the Fire family.

At least two fraternities -- Sigma Alpha Epsilon and Alpha Sigma Phi -- have the phoenix for a symbol. Something tells me there may be at least one more, but I can't think of what it might be.

We assumed that other organizations might have the same mascot/symbol, but we had pretty good reasons for picking it considering the situation that we came out of.

I didn't mean to suggest otherwise. I was just responding to 33girl.

I didn't take it any other way. I just wanted to clarify. :D

Anyways, I was thinking of doing something along the lines of the Diamond tree, since I started my tree a little late so the whole "diamond in the rough" type thing. (Finding the perfect littles- for me!) but I feel like that may be unoriginal.

The majority of the "themes" have likely been used by other organizations in the past. Just go with what fits your organization and you should be fine.

It's what you do with it. Don't worry about being 'original' as much as being creative and having fun. For example, you could be the diamond family but have a tradition of giving Aladdin gifts because the movie uses 'A diamond in the rough' as a theme. Or something entirely different!
