Fraternity Row - the movie

I did a thread search, and know this has come up a couple of times, but how many of you have seen the 1977 film "Fraternity Row"? I remember watching it when it was first released, as it was produced by a USC drama(?) major and initially just distributed through word of mouth. Our IFC had purchased a copy, and we watched it at a Lambda Chi/Pi Phi mixer at the Student center way back in Fall, 1977.

With my twin sons going off to college in the Fall 08 semester, I have been waxing melancholy lately, and decided to buy a bootleg copy (the only kind you can get). I watched it with my sons, but it just had too much of that "cheaply-produced" feel to it, so my sons tuned out quickly.

I still enjoyed it, of course, and it has several trivia nuggets now associated with it:

1) actor Scott Newman, the pledge "bully" was the late son of actor Paul Newman.
2) filmed on USC's Fraternity Row on 28th St at the Sigma Alpha Epsilon and Delta Delta Delta houses.
3) loosely based on a hazing incident from the 50s, back at the time when Ozzie & Harriet's sons, Rick and David Nelson were attending members.
4) Peter Fox, the main star is Michael J. Fox's older brother and has appeared in many films
5) Nancy Morgan, the girlfriend, was John Ritter's wife.
6) Gregory Harrison, who played the pledge President, went on to become the biggest start of the bunch.
7) By far, the majority of those appearing were USC students in 1977.
8) Robert Emhardt, the older guy, is a very recognizable character actor, and appeared in movies and TV. You may remember him as playing Malcolm Tucker in what is considered the most popular episode ever of "The Andy Griffith Show", 'Man in a Hurry'.

That would be affirmative.

Not bad quality at all, thanks.

If you're more the DVD type, you can buy a copy at http://shop.vendio.com/cindysboots/i...248/index.html , along with other obscure titles.

OK, I had no idea he was Michael J's brother, but I can add on a piece of trivia about Peter Fox. He played Otter in "Delta House" - the TV version of Animal House. (Almost all the film actors played their same parts except John Belushi & Tim Matheson.)

According to IMDb, he's not. Michael J. Fox IMDb biography lists three sisters and one brother, named Steven. The bio for Peter Fox makes no mention of Michael, either.

Interestingly enough, the trivia I quoted was also on IMDB, under the description of the movie. Go figure - IMDB is like Wikipedia, anyone can post to it, so who knows what's true (and, I guess, who cares for that matter). http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0076052/synopsis

I remember reading this and thinking "Hey, he does look a little bit like Michael"! Maybe he's the black sheep of the family.
