Anheuser-Busch suit against InBev

I'm surprised there hasn't been a thread about Anheuser-Busch yet (unless I missed it), but I'm not sure how newsworthy the whole ordeal has been in other parts of the country. I live in St. Louis so it's been the lead story now for weeks, and has many people I know very concerned.

If you haven't followed, InBev is a European company that made an unsolicited offer to purchase A-B a few weeks ago. A-B refused, and there is (I believe) a suit already pending in Delaware to overrule A-B's board. A-B has now filed suit against InBev, claiming among other reasons that the potential takeover is unlawful due to InBev's Cuban connections.

I received an email this morning with a link to an oddly worded article covering the legal aspect. I would wager a guess the writer is in favor of the takeover, given a few biased comments that seem benign at first glance. Of particular irony is the lead sentence: "The legal mess surrounding InBev's stalled acquisition of Anheuser-Busch now looks like the floor of a frat house basement after an all-night kegger."

Oh, is this the same A-B who bought out Rolling Rock, put an entire town's economy in jeopardy, moved brewing operations to Jersey, and changed the formula even though they're lying and say they didn't?

Karma's a bitch, Anheuser-Busch.

And yes, I am aware that InBev owned RR for years before A-B bought it...they were also respectful enough (and business savvy enough) to leave things as they were. RR is not found nearly as much as it used to be around here because of A-B's horrible business decisions.

Rolling Rock was good stuff. Had plenty of that in college.

Maybe it's because the A-B reps who came to our brand new restaurant gave me a $60 tip when I was their server, but they will always have a soft spot in my heart. Other than that, I can't really figure out why I'm so outraged over the takeover proposition. I think it's because it's made me realize that our "Made in America" assets are really in the bargain bin of the global economy. I know in the long run a global economy and free trade and all that is supposed to be good for the world, but it sucks for us in the USA...

It is amazing when you start to pay attention to where things are made. If you (anyone reading this post) haven't done it yet, try looking the next time you go shopping. I first really started paying attention this Christmas when my sister-in-law made a request about toys because all of the recalls.

I was, however, pleasantly surprised to see two American made shoe companies out there this past week!

ST. LOUIS - Anheuser-Busch, the maker of Budweiser and Bud Light, has agreed to a takeover by a giant Belgian brewer, a union that creates a global beer leader and brings to an end one of the most iconic names in American business.

So did I. However it was "called" or nick-named "Rolling Rust"!
It was the stuff to order after the first round of A-B.
