Bid Day Activities
 

Hi ladies!

My chapter has always had a very basic Bid Day celebration with group pictures, cake, the giving of Bid Day gifts, and then dinner somewhere off campus. This is all well and good, but we would really like to do some sort of an activity that 1) Introduces the new members to one another, 2) Introduces the new members to the chapter, and 3) Gets them excited about KD! Some of the houses on our campus do a bid day ceremony, which also seems like a good idea.

What do your chapters do for bid day? More than anything we would just like to give each and every new member a memorable evening :)

We have always had pictures and a welcoming speech. Then sisters pair up and take the new pledge class to one of our Alums house for a pool party! It's sooo much fun! We all jump in the pool with our bid day shirts on and have dinner. It's very relaxed, and a great way to get to know everyone.

Every year we have cheering and pictures in the yard. After that we go inside, serve cake and punch, and give the new girls their Bid Day gifts. After mingling the whole house is invited out to dinner somewhere. When the girls finally get back to their dorm rooms after dinner they have brand new KD letters on their doors that were hung secretly while they were out.

It's a system that has worked fairly well for us (we're a small chapter), but we would really to do a fun sort of get to know you/bonding activity before dinner. Does anyone know anything along these lines?

At our chapter, we go bowling. It's a lot of fun and allows us to get to know each other because initiated sisters and new members bowl together in small groups, but people can still easily talk to those bowling on other lanes.
