Alumnae Panhellenic Questions
Our Alumnae Panhellenic is re-evaluating the fundraising effort we put out in order to award scholarships (we currently do a very labor intensive auction) and I'm looking for ideas.
Specifically: If your alumnae panhellenic awards scholarships, could you answer the following questions for me. 1) Name of APh 2) How many scholarships (and the amounts) you award each year 3) What you do to raise the money. Feel free to pm me the information if you don't want to post it here. Thank you very much for your help! |
The Nashville Panhellenic Association hosts a luncheon every spring. Each attendee pays for a ticket (I think $30), and each sorority provides a basket or two worth around $200 and we have a silent auction. The baskets usually have a theme, everything from "movie night" to "pamper yourself" to a timeshare property for a week. People get really creative. Most of the items are donated by members and don't cost the local associations too much. Last year, four scholarships were awarded to local high school seniors. Hope this helps!

APh scholarship
Our local APh does give scholarships.
We give 2 $400 scholarships each year, the goal is one to a woman from an NPC group on each of the two local college campuses (that have Greeks). Nonetheless, we give two each year. Fundraising has been relatively easy since most costs have been cut with emailing and Evites--dues cover the bulk. We also host a yearly vendor's expo: everything from Pampered Chef to jewelry, etc, where the vendors give a cut to the local APh. Some give to high school girls, others give to a girl who lives in the hometown of the APh--there are many parameters. Contact the NPC office and they should give you plenty more details as it's required information in the President's Annual Report! (start with www.npcwomen.org) |

Pittsburgh APH does pretty much the same thing as Nashville. The scholarship amounts and how many are awarded vary from year to year.
