Aaron Bonner: Zeta Phi Chapter

Campus Organization Fasts For Ill Friend

We Love Aaron Bonner Facebook Group

From the article:

Aaron Bonner's one wish is to have a degree from Howard University. But since 2003, cancer has stood in his way. Yesterday, Howard alumna, Kia Wood, emailed the university with an update to his condition - Aaron has just two weeks to live.

Alumna Mia Harvey, Bonner's line brother, has been working to build support for Bonner and all of those who know him. "Please continue to pray for him and his family that they will find peace in the midst of this storm," she said today on her way to Cincinnati, Bonner's hometown.

The Howard chapter of the Alpha Phi Omega Service Fraternity, Inc. is leading a fast from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. today, with the number 10 representing Bonner's line number. Student government leaders are working to help in any way possible and plan to hold a forum on cancer during the 2008-09 school year. The cancer that Bonner suffers from is Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma.

Sending sisterly love and condolences to the brothers of Zeta Phi, sorors of Alpha Eta (he was a good friend and supporter to their chapter), family and friends of Bro. Bonner.

I didn't know him personally, but he's still my brother and I still hurt to hear of his passing. Sending all my love and prayers to all. :(

To Brothers of Alpha Phi Omega in the Washington, DC Area:

Zeta Phi Chapter at Howard University recently lost one of their Spring 2004 initiates, Brother Aaron Christian Bonner. Aaron was active not only in Alpha Phi Omega, but Campus Pals and student government. This week, Aaron ultimately succumbed to Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma (a form of cancer) after being first diagnosed in 2003.

The Zeta Phi Chapter humbly requests that you stand in solidarity with them at the Memorial Ceremony for Brother Aaron Christian Bonner, to take place Saturday, July 5, 2008, at promptly 10:10am on the Yard (Upper Quadrangle) at Howard University, at the Alpha Phi Omega Plot. Appropriate attire will be any Alpha Phi Omega paraphernalia (t-shirts, jackets, tikis, etc), blue and gold clothing, or simply your service or life member pin. As the ceremony will begin at 10:10am, please plan to assemble at 9:30am.

It is unfortunate that they must perform this ceremony, but let us not allow them to perform it alone. I would like to see representation from all chapters who have members residing in DC this summer.

From Georgetown, meet at the front gates at 8:45am. Take the G2 bus which departs at 8:52am all the way to the end of the line. When you get off the bus (at around 9:25am), walk up Fourth Street until you see the campus gates on your left. The APO plot is near Douglass Hall, on the west side of the yard (Upper Quadrangle).

For all those arriving via Metrorail, take the Green Line to Shaw-Howard U. Exit the Shaw-Howard U. Metro station from the 7th Street/Georgia Avenue entrance, turn right/north and proceed approximately six blocks until you have reached the main campus of Howard University.

See these maps for assistance: http://www.howard.edu/library/CampusMaps/MapC.htm and http://www.howard.edu/library/CampusMaps/Mapb.htm

All Brothers who are physically able should be present. This is one of our most solemn obligations.

Gone too soon....

Rest in peace, Brother Bonner. :(:(

A Phi O will never be the same without you, but we will continue to serve in honor of people like you, who have graced us with your presence and brotherhood.

My heart goes out to Zeta Phi, and at 1010am tomorrow, you will all be in my heart. I wish I could be there, but Boston is a little too far to drive; I'll offer up my prayers with you in spirit.

Brothers, thank you all so very much for answering the call to participate in Brother Aaron Bonner's memorial ceremony at Howard this past Saturday morning. Almost every chapter in DC was represented by undergrads or alumni (Howard, Georgetown, Catholic, and GW). The Interest Group at UDC also sent a representative.

Pictures may be seen at this link: http://www.facebook.com/album.php?ai...d35&id=1404447

I also send a special thank you to those of you who sent their condolences to Zeta Phi through me and committed to observing the ceremony in their own way.
