NBA 2008 Draft - Your Team Result

Dunno what to say about the Knick's pick.

Danilo Gallinari as the number 6 pick. Don't know enough about him. We'll see how he does.

I'm not a huge NBA fan (really only follow the Celts since I lived in Boston), but here are a few thoughts:

1) Miami had a great draft, and they should keep Beasley. He'll be a good second option to Wade, and, with Marion, they'll be a team that can score. Marion is a free agent after this season, so Riley can go after a power forward (it looks like he wants Boozer), and Beasley can play the 3.

2) The Nets had a good draft, but they'd better sign LeBron when he's a free agent. If not, they've essentially gutted the team for nothing.

3) On a non-basketball note, Stuart Scott should never be put in an unscripted situation again. He was absolutely terrible, and that's even with having one of the best basketball analysts out there (Mark Jackson) at the same table. The combination of Scott and Stephen A. was rough, to put it mildly.

I just loved the rampant boos that met the Danilo pick - I mean seriously, I know it's at MSG, but they took the highest-rated dude left on most boards (although inexplicably, Bucher had B. Lopez ahead, which seems like nonsense). I guess that's boo-worthy.

Portland went apeshit last night, and I was incredibly impressed - assuming Oden is even marginally effective at the 5, they've put an otherwordly amount of talent around him, sort of reminiscent (in a bizarre way) of the old Drexler Blazers, a team driven more by a solid cast that went deep rather than pure star power. They're seriously about 15 or 16 deep in terms of guys that should make an NBA roster.

If I were the Knicks, the only player I would have considered in that spot was Bayliss to fill a need at point guard. On the other hand, it could be hilarious watching Nate Robinson run the offense.

And when I say "run the offense," I mean launch 30 shots a game and turn the ball over.

I agree completely. I hit the mute button everytime Stuart opened his mouth. He's pretty much unwatchable. On the plus side (at least for me) the Bulls got it right. :)
