Chapter Awards
 

Brothers, I was curious as to what sort of awards your chapter gives / gave out? I've noticed when visiting other chapters' websites that they often have a number of local level awards and was hoping to hear more about what you guys think is award worthy and what time is appropriate for giving them.

Right now my chapter has only 2 awards, 1 active and 1 alumnus, which are distributed at Formal and Founders' Day respectively. What other ones would you recommend, and when?

My chapter used to give out the Award of Awesomeness, an award to recognize the awesomeness of a brother. Of course, I won the award 9 years straight because I am so awesome.

We used to have brother of the year and scholar of the year. The criteria for brother of the year never stayed the same, but scholar was given to the person with the highest gpa by the sigma.

...and humble. Don't forget humble.

My chapter gave out many, many awards. Most of them were given out of abject silliness. The important ones were, Undergraduate Brother of the Year and Alumni Brother of the Year. And of course, the scholarship award for highest GPA. I won it one time, because I had a very light semester of all free electives. My trophy was two framed elementary school pictures of our High Sigma. I still pull it out occasionally and chuckle.

Then, we also had the weekly awards, "Stud of the Week" and "Ass of the Week." Click HERE to see an example of the "Ass of the Week" trophy.

Each semester, we gave out several other awards, which were "so vile and disgusting that decorum prohibits mentioning them here." :eek:

No, I didn't forget humble. I was the most humble brother in my chapter by far. We didn't have an Award for Humbleness, but if we did, I would have won it 11 times in a row because I am much better at being humble than everyone else. No one else even comes close to my humbleness.
