Who To Direct Recs To...?
Hi!
I got an email from someone who is working on a rec for me asking if there is a specific address/person she should direct her rec letter to. All of this is very new to me and I'm not sure what to tell her. So who/where would she direct this to? I have to say too that I am extremely glad I discovered GreekChat.com. There is so much useful information here and for someone who is the first in her family to go to college and who only knows a small handful of Greeks, it's nice to have somewhere to come look up information! Thanks! Sarah |

ETA: I saw in another thread that you'll be attending the University of Tennessee. If the chapter websites are working, they'll usually have an address posted there as well. |
Yes, the membership chairman of the chapter should receive the rec. You can access your university's greek life webpage and probably find the address. It will be listed with info pertaining to that sorority.
Note- this is the reason I always tell pnm's to include a stamped envelope addressed to the chapter when they give a rec writer their resume and pic. It just helps the alum out and is a nice gesture. Also...don't forget your thank you note! :) |

ADPi prints a list of Recruitment addresses for all campuses in our summer quarterly magazine. Mine just came in last week. A quick glance through and it appears most chapters list their school mailing address. The I/natl websites should also have a list of addresses.
Recs should be addressed to the attention of the officer in charge of Recs. The officer title varies from one GLO to another. Terminology/officer titles may have changed over the years too, so an older alum might not know the current correct title. As long as some sort of notation is made, like the outdated "Attn: Rush Chair" or "Recommendation Enclosed", we can make sure it gets to the proper person. |
Thank you everyone for all of your help!
I've found the correct address and with a little more work found the correct person to address it to. Thanks again! |
