The Real Housewives of Atlanta!

I normally don't care for reality shows, but since the majority of the wives will be African American, I will be watching this. :D

Bravo’s hit tv show (one of my faves) The Real Housewives is now hitting Atlanta. Previously they did 3 seasons of The Real Housewives of the OC and just showed the finale of The Real Housewives of New York Season 1. Not one black Housewife was ever featured on any of the 4 seasons total. But now, after rumors of this new season have been going around for a while, it’s official that Bravo is bringing the show to Atlanta. And 4 out of the 5 Housewives are YBF chicks. Sources associated with the show have given YBF some exclusive inside info and pics of the cast. They just wrapped the season last week and a few of the Housewives were spotted at a private party for Ed Hartwell a few nights ago.

Not to intrude on this forum, but I heard about this on the radio, and people (Atlanta callers) seemed displeased with the concept.

Shinerbock, what were hey displeased about? Secondly, what was the demographic of the callers?

Personally, I would have liked to see some "housewives" with husbands that actually did something besides play sports. Are there no African-American power couples out there whose husbands work for corporations, own law firms, are doctors, etc.? I'm not sure if I'll be taking this seriously....

i'm on another board where this has been discussed. I think only 1 of the 5 is actually a "housewife"...

does anyone know if this is true?

i know OC and NY had a mix of married/unmarried but i would REALLY like to see more than 1 in 5 AfAm "housewives" actually BE a housewife. :-)

Of course there are. :) But apparently people aren't interested with that. There is a real estate broker couple and that's the only husband who isn't an athlete.

I feel like this will be a "desperate housewives" version of Deion and Pilar. I'll skip this show and stick to Deion and Pilar. :)

ETA: I know that "housewives" can have types of careers but some of these women are too employed to really be "housewives." Or does "housewife" simply mean that they work from home most of the time.

I just saw the preview show and within the first 15 minutes, had already written to Bravo and its parent network on the tackiness and insanity of this show.

October 7 will be a sad day when this crap airs!

the HWofNY had quite a few, well, lazy golddiggers on there if you ask me. the girls in Cali to me were a bit more down to earth. Spoiled, yes. Snobby, no. one was a successful real estate agent, and did her housewife thing on the side. i thought it was great she could do that. of course she was a former Playboy centerfold, but hey, use your resources where you can get them lol!

i saw one HW in NY tell her friend not to introduce her to her driver by her first name, because that was someone who worked over/for her. how stuck up is that?? i thought it was refreshing that she was close enough to her driver to have a friendly relationship, not a "be outside of my condo STAT or i will have you fired!!!' relationship lol...

Atlanta is better than that. and too bad Bravo (who i love usually) decided as an afterthought to do a Black version. they should have been interracial to begin with.
