You Know You're A Kappa When...

This idea was shamelessly stolen from the ADPi forum :p

You know you're a Kappa when...

You buy things just because they have a fleur de lis on them, even if you weren't looking for the item

At least one room in your home has a light blue/dark blue color scheme

You see your letters at the gym/mall/grocery store, and you try to maneuver your path so you will "bump" into your sister

(adding on to that one)
You buy things just because they have a key/owl on them, even if you weren't looking for the item

You have dreams about running into old ladies wearing keys (that was me last night)

You change the words to songs so they fit with Kappa themes

You get excited about your dad's iris garden, because they're fleur de lis!

You get really annoyed when the neighbor's irises have more flowers on the plants than yours.

You feel you are destined to buy a house because its blue bathroom has an owl hook on the back of the door.

You teach your two year old to say "fleur de lis," then realize how many of them you have around the house when he starts pointing them out.

This thread is too funny!

You know you're a Kappa when....

-you get a certain feeling about someone wonderful you've just met, so you ask her if she was ever in a sorority and find out that she is a sister!!

You know you're a Kappa when...

That amazing call from your daughter on bid day steals your very last ounce of composure, and your husband has to make a run to the store for more Kleenex. :)

Awww! One of my littles (yeah yeah, key sisses) is a legacy. I guess her mom started BAWLING when she called to deliver the good news. Oh, and her mom was on the freeway! Bid day can be a driving hazard! :p

You know you're a Kappa when...

you get confused when someone has a fleur-de-lis accessory on that isn't a sister. I always have to double-check they aren't from New Orleans or France!

when you ask that person WHERE DID YOU GET THAT?? so you can run out and buy it, too.

when your significant other knows you'd rather receive irises than roses (or any other flower) as a gift.

you buy your only child (a boy) owl t-shirts and jammies! :)

you start to tear up when you see your 84 year old grandmother on her knees singing "Oh Pat" at your cousin's wedding!!

I thought the fleur-de-lis was more closely associated with French Canadians (and Cajuns) than with the French (from France). The fleur-de-lis is a symbol of the French monarchy, which was not highly regarded in post-revolution France.

Move to Louisiana! There everywhere...not just in New Orleans! I love my huge Fleur-de-lis 3D plaque (hard to describe but beautiful) that shows my Louisiana heritage! There are some great finds for Kappas...y'all should be jealous of your sisters at LSU! They have it soooo easy!
