Golf question: tipping a forecaddie

My fiance and I are playing a really nice course this weekend for his birthday (Mystic Rock, at Nemacolin, PA). They require the use of a forecaddie, which neither one of us have used before. The forecaddie fee isn't broken out, it's included in the greens fee (normally about $184 per person, I think. We got a great deal for $90 a person).

We're not sure how much to tip the forecaddie, since we've never used one before. Any suggestions?

Would telling him about the Evans Scholarships qualify as a good tip? ;)

(sorry, just kidding, I don't even know what a forecaddie is :))

You're going to Nemacolin? You have extra kidneys to use for tipping, right?

lol.

I would ask someone at your firm. If you can't find anyone, let me know and I'll ask one of the rabid golfers here.

I think $20 for both of you would be good.

I found this online, but this is for a group of four:

Forecaddies
A forecaddie doesn't carry anyone's bags. One forecaddie will be assigned to a group of four. His job is to move ahead of the group to keep track of everyone's shots, and to direct players around the course. A forecaddie should get one tip from the group, $50-$100 total.

I had never heard of a forecaddie until now, so I googled it and found (among many mannnnnny other sites) this:

It was an interesting story, and I hope your forecaddie experience is better than this guy's. It sounds like the figure Nut just gave you is comparable to the tip mentioned at the end of this story.

Good luck!

I would stay away from clubs like that unless you have more money than brains!:p

Why do they sell golf balls by the dozen? Dah so you have enough when you lose them!

I've always done 20 dollars a bag.

Yes, clearly people that are members of or like to play at nice country/golf clubs have no brains. A 200$ green fee isn't much at all.

They also sell golf balls in sleeves of 3 smart guy.

...as for the question. It depends on how good he does. I've tipped anywhere from 20-100$.

Thanks, guys. We're figuring on $20 each. Forecaddies aren't used very many places around here, and if they are, they're not mandatory. So even most of the hard core golfers I know have never used one.
