Clinton to say Obama has enough delegates
"Clinton to say Obama has enough delegates
Aides: N.Y. senator will stop short of formally suspending or ending her race CHICAGO - Hillary Rodham Clinton will concede Tuesday night that Barack Obama has the delegates to secure the Democratic nomination, campaign officials said, effectively ending her bid to be the nation's first female president. The former first lady will stop short of formally suspending or ending her race in her speech in New York City. She will pledge to continue to speak out on issues like health care. But for all intents and purposes, the two senior officials said, the campaign is over."......................... http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/24944453/ This is not too much of a surprise since late last week.;) Now, all one can hope for is: Both parties, and their followers/supporters, to unify. Both parities, and their followers/supporters, to attempt a relatively proper campaign on issues and policies rather than on personal and character issues and matters. And that the People come out and vote. |
That's what we all can hope for...if it happens may be another story. I have yet to decide on which on the soon to be two candidates I like more, in regards to their political beliefs, but regardless of whomever becomes our next president, we must wish for a better tomorrow....

That's something we may never know lol...But seriously, I do question if this prolonged battle for the Democratic Nomination will in turn hurt the eventual candidate |

While Sen. Clinton may not be conceding, she just may be stopping active campaigning. Which several others did a few months ago as well. We will find out tonight on some of this. This may just be, for lack of any better term, some sort of spin and/or damage control effort. As for the Super Delegates, look forward to next few days. And AP/MSNBC just updated their links: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/24944453/ http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/24950215/ http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/24950502/ |

While it is part of human nature to vent and protest when something you like or endorse fails, in this case the fight may have gone too deep and long for some people. Or not deep and long enough for some. |
Pardon my ignorance ( I have unfortunately been unable to keep up with all of the primary news), what were the outcomes of the contested FL and Michigan delegates?

We had a big to-do about it in another thread, but that's the gist. |

No, not really at all. With so much going on in this matter, let alone the World and personal life, it is rather easy to miss a news cycle or two. And as we can see above, things can change in a matter of minutes. |
Very true. My wedding planning, along with school and work, has kept me a bit preoccupied in regards to staying up-to-date with current events. I should get on the horse, so to speak, in regards to the elections. For many reasons obviously, but especially with the 1st debate being held where I am currently attending school..Ole Miss

Well as Fox News said today is a day of very small news cycles:
Clinton: Open to being Obama's vice president Says she would consider it to help Democrats win the White House in '08 WASHINGTON - Hillary Clinton has told congressional colleagues she would be open to becoming Barack Obama's vice presidential nominee, saying she would consider it if it would help Democrats win the White House. Clinton, a New York senator, made the comment on a conference call with other New York lawmakers Tuesday, according a participant on the call. The senator's remarks came in response to a question from Democratic Rep. Nydia Velazquez who said she believed the best way for Obama to win over key voting blocs, including Hispanics, would be for him to choose Clinton as his running mate. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/24953561/ AP: Obama has delegates to clinch nomination Tally follows Clinton sources saying she's ready to acknowledge CHICAGO - Barack Obama effectively clinched the Democratic presidential nomination Tuesday, the Associated Press reported, citing its tally of convention delegates. He would become the first black candidate ever to lead a major U.S. party into a fall campaign for the White House. Hillary Rodham Clinton later told New York lawmakers she would be open to being Obama's vice presidential candidate in the latest message from her campaign. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/24944453/ http://www.nytimes.com/2008/06/04/us...hp&oref=slogin Obama Looks to Recruit Clinton’s Top Fund-Raisers As Senator Barack Obama edges closer to the Democratic presidential nomination, his campaign is gearing up to recruit many of Senator Hillary Clinton’s top fund-raisers, a move that could provide him with a huge infusion of cash if he wins the party’s nod and the two camps can get past the rancor of the primary season. Several of Mr. Obama’s finance officials say that if Mrs. Clinton drops out of the race, they will invite her top fundraisers to join Mr. Obama’s national finance committee at a meeting in Chicago on June 19. They estimate that the well-connected Clinton team could raise at least $50 million to $75 million for Mr. Obama and even more for the Democratic Party, adding a giant boost to the record-shattering amounts he is receiving from small donors over the Internet. http://www.nytimes.com/2008/06/04/us...donate.html?hp Tonights news could be very interesting. As will the next few days. |
