But the Soviet Union is gone and we're still here.

This is true, but a different breed of president. You didn't have presidential candidates running amuck calling the soviet small either.

Yeah, I think it was considered a pretty big threat by Democrats and Republicans alike.

Kennedy didn't seem to think sitting down with folks unconditionally was the way to solve problems with groups that threatened the US.

Just let Obama sit down and talk with him and everything will be okay.
