UCF Recruitment
HI!!!! I am new to the site, and I have read a lot of the past threads about UCF. I was just wondering if anyone could tell me how UCF recruitment works, like how many days, what to expect, etc. The universities websites do not say much, and are not updated that often. I'm rushing in the fall as a freshman and will definitely share my story!!! I am SOOO excited, but still very nervous :D

You mentioned that you've already read past threads about UCF recruitment. Pay close attention to what you read there, especially from the UCF alums because they sure know their stuff. On the other hand, you might want to be mindful of how NOT to go through recruitment. ;) If you've already registered for recruitment, be rest assured about getting info because you'll know more about it before any of us do! Good luck. |
good luck to you UCFgirl!

I'm a UCF alumna. When I was there, Recruitment was five days long (includes Bid Day.) As far as I know, that has not changed. Chapters are big at UCF and recruitment has lots of women involved. It's very exciting, and going Greek at UCF is a great experience.
Definitely read the threads about UCF recruitment. As I recall, the info is all pretty much correct. If you have specific questions after reading those threads, feel free to PM me. You can also ask questions of ZTAngel and adpiucf, who are also alums of UCF and around here a lot. |
This thread has info in it for all a couple of different Florida schools including UCF:

Good luck with recruitment at UCF. It is definitely different than 4 years ago when I first rushed but if you have any questions I can help you to the best of my ability.
The link above looks great for advice!! I can't wait to hear your stories! |
Hey Girls!
Im A Chi Omega at UCF. Formal Recruitment is So fun but kinda long. There is 4 Days and then BID DAYYY!!! Day One is UCF Day where you got o every single house an meet all the sorority. SO youll have 10 parties to attend. Day Two is philanthropy day where you go back to up to 7 of the houses and you learn about their philanthropies and chit chat and get to know more of the amazing sisters. Day Three is Movie knight (my favorite day) You go to 5 houses that day and you watch a video about the sorority. The video included pictures of their sisterhood, events, socials, philanthropies, IM sports, trips that they go on anything and anything. The last day is Pref Knight. Its more of a quiet day, you go to 3 houses and the conversation is alot more indepth and personal. You learn somethings that are important to each sorority and listen to girls experiences. then is Bid Day where you would get your bid to a house! All the sororities are amazing at UCF they all offer a great sisterhood and i can promise you as cliche as this sounds you really do end up where you are supposed to be! message me if you have any other questions! |
Is it harder to get bids at UCF as a sophomore? I rushed as a freshman but only got through 1 day before I dropped out because I didn't really see all of the advantages of rushing. Now that I have a year under my belt I can really appreciate sororities for what they are. Is being a sophomore going to affect my chances at all?
It was also explained to me (by my Rho Gamma, I believe) that women who rush are guaranteed at least one bid. Is that true, or did I misinterpret something? Thanks, Eileen |

Second, bids are NOT guaranteed. Rho Gammas know better than to make such statements. The UCF alums will know best about whether or not it'll be harder for you to rush as a sophomore but generally speaking (and based on what I've read about UCF rush over the years), I'd say yes, sophomore standing will affect you. |
Some schools have guaranteed placement if you maximize your options. Whether or not you like your options doesn't matter.
For example, everyday you get cut by more and more of your favorite chapters. At Pref you only have the chapter you kind of think would be okay and the chapter you would rather not even visit. You must go to both parties, and rank both chapters, to be guaranteed a bid. Bid day comes and your now, sadly, a member of the latter group. You took your chances and lost. :( |
Dang, SoCalGirl! That was awfully sad!
