Torrid.com

I need to vent my pure frustration right now. I order clothes from Torrid.com all the time. I ALWAYS have problems with the sizes. They are never consistent, but usually when you go a size up, it gets bigger. I ordered a dress from there in 2 sizes, the one I normally wear there, and the one a size up. Neither fit AT ALL. Ok so I have them send me the next size up (2 sizes up from what I normally wear) and that doesn't fit either. Ok call them up and they send me the next size up. THIS DRESS IS SMALLER THAN THE ONE BEFORE IT. I couldn't even get it over my arms when this size should have slipped right on. I knew something was fishy so I put the new dress on top of the one size down dress and wouldn't you know, it's the same size as the first two dresses I got. And yes the tags (sown on the dress, and the purchasing tags) have the bigger sizes number. WTF??????

I would stop ordering from them, get an rma# for all three dresses, get your money back, and never order from them again.

Wow. I was actually just getting ready to buy a bunch of stuff from Torrid, but never knew anyone who actually had, so I put it off. Kinda glad I did now.

This is why I never feel comfortable ordering clothes online/through catalogues ... you never know, and returning stuff is a b*tch. Of course, I probably miss out on a lot of cool stuff in my paranoia.

is there a torrid close to you? a girlfriend turned me on to their clothes but the one near me is quite, ummmm... urban so it doesn't suit my taste. however the one near her (2 states away) carries the CUTEST stuff, some of it even looks work appropriate.

My daughter gets lots of stuff there but the sizing is kind of messed up sometimes. Their bathing suits were sized weird last year. There's one in Toledo that's really easy to get to Phyllis. You can return stuff you got online at their store and I often have my daughter try things on there, make a list of what she really wants and then we order them online later. Their jeans are pretty consistent. I'm taking a Torrid clearance dress to a seamstress for alterations for her 8th grade dance. We make a Torrid run about 4 times a year.

I always passed it by in the mall because I thought it was a female-only Hot Topic. I guess not ... oops.

Urban? I don't think I understand.

I hope the dress was hella cute, because it sounds like you went through a lot.

It's a category on their website. According to Torrid.com, "urban" means Apple Bottoms, Baby Phat, and Dereon.

right. everything is either toooo casual or tooooo clubby, i didn't even know they carried a variety of styles until i visited the store in another area.

I find, in general, that their clothes are really cheaply made. After a few washes, the fabric starts to have problems and the seams come out. :(

Do they have that stuff in the brick & mortar stores as well? I thought everything was their house brand (like the Limited, Abercrombie etc do) - I didn't realize they carried other people's brands.

AGDee 05-22-2008 03:56 PM

It seems to me that most of the stuff in their brick & mortar stores are their house brand. They carry some jeans that are not their house brand, but I think I've seen Paris Blues in there.. maybe LEI, but not the brands mentioned above. The jeans my daughter LOVES from there are their 4 way stretch jeans because they stretch with you but never sag or get stretched out.. she swears they are the best jeans she ever got, which is good, since she paid $100 for them (with her own money cuz her mom wouldn't pay for them!)

It seems like it might be code for cheap and tacky.
People still wear Apple Bottoms?!
Ick.
